REISTO® Fieldworks Buttonless Shooting Cap – Black & Olive

Most caps have a small button at the top. Normally it goes unnoticed, but when you wear overhead ear defenders, that button can press straight into your head and quickly become uncomfortable.

This cap really started from my own personal annoyance. I often wear overhead ear defenders when shooting and got fed up with the top button being pushed into my head. It seemed like such a simple thing to remove, but when we started looking at making our own caps, we quickly discovered there was more to it than we expected.

The top button is traditionally used to cover and reinforce the point where the crown panels meet. Removing it meant we had to put a little more thought into the six-panel construction and how everything came together at the top. It took some work to get right, but we are genuinely pleased with the finished result.

We also wanted the cap to sit a little more comfortably around the ears. Several of the standard caps we compared measured around 17.5 to 18 cm from the top centre of the crown to the lower edge. Ours measures approximately 16.6 cm. It may not sound like a big difference, but that slightly shorter crown helps reduce contact with the tops of your ears.

Finished with a simple adjustable Velcro strap and subtle charcoal REISTO® embroidery, the black and olive colour combination has been designed to complement our Fieldworks range.
